WHO WE ARE Farm Express is a fleet of mobile produce markets that provide access to high-quality, affordable produce to residents with little to no access to healthy food. We proudly serve individuals, families, school-age children, senior citizens, educators, and many others in Phoenix and Tempe. Farm Express is a program of the Discovery Triangle Development Corporation, whose mission is to develop and deploy innovative solutions to food system challenges that help communities improve their access to healthy, affordable food.
POSITION: PROGRAM MANAGER Farm Express is seeking a highly motivated Program Manager to join our team! We are in an exciting transition period in our organization and searching for a dynamic leader who wants to grow with our organization. The Program Manager’s primary responsibility is to lead the Farm Express staff team and manage the daily operations of the mobile produce market service.
Work Schedule and Compensation: The Program Manager position is a full-time, exempt position and reports directly to the Executive Director. Hours are contingent upon Farm Express service schedule and may vary depending on weekly schedule and operational needs. With advanced notice, some evening and weekend hours are required. The Program Manager salary range is $45,000 - $50,000 depending on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including PTO, phone stipend, mileage reimbursement, health insurance coverage, and paid holidays.
Minimum Qualifications: - At least 2+ years of direct staff management experience required - Exceptional customer service skills and proficient written and verbal communications - Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at once - Agile problem-solving skills and desire to work in various environments - Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people - Capable of using technology, including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, texting and iPad, and social media tools - Strong desire to learn and train others on new services, equipment, and programmatic changes - Ability to manage cash and equipment in an ethical, legal manner - Physical strength required to lift large boxes of produce and assist customers on and off the bus - A valid driver’s license, with ability to operate a 20 ft. vehicle safely during the day and at night - Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred, but not required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Staff Management - Manage the Farm Express staff team on matters involving staff scheduling, produce handling, customer service, community partner communications, and other duties as needed - Be responsible for the implementation of a program safety plan - Manage one-on-one monthly check-in meetings with Farm Express staff team members - Ensure team members are properly trained in all Farm Express safety protocols by: - Conducting ongoing safety trainings and workshops - Developing systems that track team members’ adherence to program safety requirements - Researching and implementing new protocols that align with legal requirements for food handling and driver safety - In conjunction with the Executive Director, design and manage new necessary initiatives to train and develop employees, improve team morale and increase productivity
Program Operations - Coordinate fulfillment of inventory needs, including price-setting, ordering, receiving, and inspection to ensure produce quality and quantity meet brand standards - Maintain routine operational and cleaning checklists for all Farm Express workspaces - Be responsible for the creation and dissemination of monthly Farm Express service schedules - Ensure that all point-of-sale and financial matters are handled in an ethical manner - Be responsible for monthly reporting to program funders
Site Outreach and Management In conjunction with Executive Director, execute outreach plan to engage community members, site leaders, and other community stakeholders - Provide exceptional customer service to site managers, community members, bus operators and team members - In conjunction with the Executive Director, review and evaluate monthly profit and loss statements to monitor product sales - Manage communications and support content creation for social media to promote service
